Visitor Visa (TRV) information for India applicants
Apply for a Temporary Resident Visa to visit Canada for tourism, family, or business.
Reminder: IRCC.com is an independent news and information site — we do not handle applications or give advice. Verify on canada.ca and consult a CICC-licensed RCIC for personal advice.
India-specific factors IRCC considers
- Police clearance via Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), 7-10 days; non-resident Indians via Indian Mission abroad.
- ECA via WES is the most common path; degree verification often delayed by university transcripts.
- IELTS available in 40+ cities; CELPIP very limited (Delhi/Mumbai only).
- India does not permit dual citizenship — naturalization in Canada requires applying for OCI status afterward.
- Proof of funds typically presented in INR converted to CAD at IRCC's published exchange rate.
Police certificate from India
PCC issued by Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) for residents in India; for NRIs, by the nearest Indian Mission. Validity 6 months from issue.
ECA / credential evaluation
WES is the dominant ECA provider for Indian credentials. Allow 6-12 weeks; some universities (especially older Indian degrees) require sealed transcripts mailed directly to WES.
