Important — read first

IRCC.com is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or the Government of Canada. The official Government of Canada immigration website is canada.ca/immigration.

1. No affiliation with the Government of Canada

IRCC.com is a privately operated information website. It is not owned, controlled, sponsored, endorsed, or in any way affiliated with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, or any other branch, agency, or department of the Government of Canada or any provincial government.

The acronym “IRCC” refers to the Government of Canada department of the same name. We use the term in its descriptive, journalistic sense to discuss programs administered by that department. Always verify any government-related information directly on canada.ca before acting on it.

2. Information only — not legal or immigration advice

All content on IRCC.com is provided for general information purposes only. Nothing on this website constitutes:

  • legal advice;
  • immigration advice or representation;
  • professional consulting services of any kind; or
  • a solicitor-client, lawyer-client, or consultant-client relationship.

Information presented here may not apply to your individual situation. Do not rely on this site as a substitute for personalized advice from a qualified professional.

2A. We do not provide services

To be unambiguous about scope, IRCC.com does not:

  • Review applications or supporting documents;
  • Tell anyone whether they qualify for a Canadian immigration program;
  • Recommend specific programs, streams, provinces, or pathways for individual cases;
  • Refer visitors to consultants, lawyers, or other service providers;
  • Process forms, submit applications, or contact IRCC on anyone's behalf;
  • Give opinions on the merits, eligibility, or chances of any individual case;
  • Provide one-on-one consultations, paid or unpaid.

If you contact us seeking any of the above, we will not respond. For personalized help, contact a CICC-licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or a Canadian immigration lawyer in good standing with a provincial law society.

3. Use a licensed immigration professional for advice

In Canada, only the following individuals are legally authorized to give immigration advice or representation for a fee:

  • Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs / RISIAs) licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC);
  • Canadian lawyers and paralegals in good standing with a provincial law society;
  • Quebec notaires in good standing with the Chambre des notaires du Québec.

Verify a consultant via CICC's public Find an Immigration and Citizenship Consultant tool before paying for help.

4. Information may be out of date

Canadian immigration policy, programs, fees, processing times, and forms change frequently. We make commercially reasonable efforts to keep our content current, but we cannot guarantee that any particular page reflects the present state of the law at the moment you read it.

5. No warranties
