Alberta issued 2,552 invitations to apply for provincial nomination through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) in a draw held on June 3, 2026. The invitations went to candidates in the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway and the Alberta Opportunity Stream, marking one of the province's larger selection rounds this year.
This draw follows Alberta's pattern of targeting specific occupation groups and candidates already working in the province. In the previous AAIP draw on May 20, the province invited 1,847 candidates, meaning the June 3 selection represents a 38 percent increase in invitation volume over a two-week period.
Under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, Alberta invited candidates with valid Express Entry profiles who work in eligible healthcare occupations. The Alberta Opportunity Stream targeted foreign workers currently employed in Alberta in occupations that support the province's economic priorities. Both streams require candidates to have a valid job offer from an Alberta employer and meet specific work experience requirements tied to their National Occupational Classification code.
"Alberta continues to address critical labour shortages through strategic immigration pathways," the announcement notes.
The invitations affect healthcare professionals including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and medical laboratory technologists working in Alberta with Express Entry profiles. Foreign workers in the Alberta Opportunity Stream span a broader range of sectors, including construction trades, hospitality, and technology roles, provided they hold valid work permits and have been employed in the province for the required duration under their NOC category.
Invited candidates have 15 business days from the date of invitation to submit a complete provincial nomination application through the AAIP online portal. Applicants must provide proof of their current employment in Alberta, language test results demonstrating Canadian Language Benchmark 5 or higher, and educational credential assessments if their degrees were obtained outside Canada. A successful provincial nomination adds 600 points to an Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System score or allows paper-based permanent residence applications for non-Express Entry streams.
