The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) invited 569 candidates to apply for provincial nomination on July 16. Invitations were issued to individuals who qualified under one of two selection factors: wage or salary tied to a TEER 0–3 job offer, or profile registration score. This draw is the largest provincial immigration selection round held by British Columbia this year.

This latest draw is part of British Columbia's ongoing efforts to attract top talent to the province. The BCPNP has now held 16 selection rounds in 2026, with Skills Immigration (SI) candidates targeted in nine of them. The province's Innovate initiative aims to issue high economic impact invitations to top talent in all sectors, and this draw saw the highest proportion of registration score-based invitations of any SI round held by the BCPNP in 2026. Compared to previous draws, this one had a significant number of invitations issued based on registration score, with 346 candidates invited under this criterion.

The specific mechanics of the draw involved invitations being distributed across the two criteria as follows: 346 invitations were issued to candidates with a minimum registration score of 132 points, and 223 invitations were issued to candidates with a TEER 0–3 job offer and an offered wage of at least $58/hour (approximately $115,000/year). The province notes that future SI rounds may target candidates according to different provincial priorities, including factors such as education level, professional designation, work experience, language ability, occupation, and wage or skill level of the job offer.

"Top talent in all sectors" are being targeted under British Columbia's Innovate initiative, according to the province. The BCPNP has sent out at least 3,676 invitations to apply for provincial nomination through its SI category as of July 16.

The candidates affected by this draw are those who have submitted a registration, or Expression of Interest profile, under the SI category. Foreign nationals must first submit a registration to be considered under the SI category, and candidates are assigned a score based on the information provided in their registration. As of July 7, the BC PNP registration pool contained 8,683 profiles, with scores ranging from 0 to 150+. Candidates from various occupations and sectors are eligible to apply, although the province did not publish the specific occupations or sectors of candidates who received invitations in this selection round.

For candidates who are interested in applying for provincial nomination through the BCPNP, the next step is to assess their eligibility for enhanced PNP streams. Candidates can submit a registration, or Expression of Interest profile, to be considered under the SI category. The province periodically selects candidates from the registration pool and invites them to apply for provincial nomination, so it is essential for candidates to ensure their profile is up-to-date and accurate. Candidates can check the official government website for more information on the BCPNP and the eligibility criteria for the SI category.
