British Columbia issued 437 invitations to apply for provincial nomination on May 14, targeting high-wage workers and top-scoring candidates through its Skills Immigration stream. This marks the province's fifth SI draw of 2026, according to a report by CIC News.

The invitations were split between two selection factors: 225 went to candidates with TEER 0–3 job offers paying at least $59 per hour (roughly $120,000 annually), while 212 went to those with a minimum registration score of 135 points. The province describes this approach as part of its "Innovate" initiative, designed to attract "experts and innovators from all sectors," the announcement notes.

This draw ranks as the third-largest SI selection round this year, behind April 22 (484 invitations) and February 11 (460 invitations). All three of those draws, plus a February 4 round, targeted candidates based on wage and job offer. A separate May 6 draw invited 333 candidates based on occupation, focusing on healthcare, veterinary, education, and construction trades.

As of May 6, the BCPNP's SI registration pool held 9,967 candidates, with the largest group (21.1%) scoring between 100 and 109 points. The province has issued 2,143 SI invitations so far in 2026.

What this means: High-earning workers with job offers in British Columbia—particularly those earning $59 or more per hour—now have a clearer pathway to provincial nomination. Candidates with strong registration scores (135+) also remain competitive even without the wage threshold. BC warns that future selection factors may shift based on labour priorities, so eligibility criteria could change draw to draw.
