Prince Edward Island issued 114 invitations to apply for provincial nomination on May 21, marking the province's fifth draw of 2026. The invitations targeted candidates working in priority sectors and occupations within PEI, as well as international graduates from three designated post-secondary institutions in the province.

The draw continues PEI's pattern of issuing more than 100 invitations monthly throughout 2026, with the province having invited 477 candidates total since January. This represents a significant increase from the January draw, which issued only 26 invitations — the lowest of the year so far — while April's draw reached the year's peak at 127 invitations.

All 114 invitations were distributed through two streams of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program: Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry. The province prioritized workers currently employed in high-impact economic sectors, along with international student graduates from the University of Prince Edward Island, Holland College, and Collège de l'Île. The selection criteria have remained consistent across all five draws conducted in 2026, as reported by CIC News.

PEI remains the only Canadian province or territory to publish its draw schedule publicly in advance. Of the five draws held this year, four occurred on the exact dates listed in the province's anticipated invitation schedule, with only the March 20 draw deviating by one day from its scheduled March 19 date. The province notes that upcoming draw dates — tentatively set for June 18 and July 16 — are for informational purposes and not guaranteed.

The invitations affect foreign workers currently employed in PEI's priority sectors and recent graduates from the province's three designated institutions. International students who completed programs at UPEI, Holland College, or Collège de l'Île receive priority consideration under the current selection framework.

Candidates interested in PEI nomination must create an account on the province's website and submit an Expression of Interest. The Office of Immigration assesses profiles based on language proficiency in English or French, education credentials, work experience, and alignment with strategic labour market priorities. Invited candidates now have 30 calendar days to submit a complete application — a reduction from the previous 60-day window. After receiving provincial nomination, applicants can apply to the federal government for permanent residence.
