AAIP Draws Issue 1,550 Invitations Across Multiple Immigration Streams -…
Alberta issued 1,550 invitations to apply for provincial nomination on June 5, 2026, across four streams under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. The draw targeted candidates in the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, Rural Renewal Stream, Rural Entrepreneur Stream, and the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
This marks one of the larger multi-stream draws Alberta has conducted in recent months, reflecting the province's continued effort to address labour shortages in healthcare and rural communities. Previous AAIP draws in early 2026 typically ranged between 800 and 1,200 invitations per round, making this draw notably higher in volume.
The Dedicated Healthcare Pathway received the majority of invitations, targeting foreign workers and international graduates employed in healthcare occupations across Alberta. The Rural Renewal Stream invited candidates committed to living and working in designated rural communities outside Calgary and Edmonton. The Rural Entrepreneur Stream selected business owners planning to establish or purchase enterprises in rural Alberta, while the Alberta Opportunity Stream invited candidates already working in the province in eligible occupations. Specific Comprehensive Ranking System score thresholds and occupation codes for this draw were not disclosed in the announcement.
"Alberta continues to welcome skilled workers and entrepreneurs who can contribute to our communities," the release states.
The invitations affect healthcare professionals currently employed in Alberta hospitals and clinics, foreign workers in rural positions outside the province's two largest cities, and entrepreneurs preparing business proposals for rural Alberta. International graduates who completed post-secondary programs in Alberta and secured healthcare employment also received invitations under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway.
Invited candidates must submit a complete provincial nomination application through the AAIP online portal within the deadline specified in their invitation letter, typically 15 business days from the date of issue. Applicants should ensure all supporting documents—including job offers, language test results, educational credential assessments, and proof of work experience—are current and match the details in their Expression of Interest profile. Those who receive a provincial nomination certificate will gain 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System points toward a federal Express Entry draw or may apply for a work permit support letter if applying outside Express Entry.
