PR Residency-Obligation Tracker
To keep PR status, you must accumulate 730 days of physical presence in Canada within any rolling 5-year period (IRPA section 28). Some days outside Canada count too — see "credited" rule below.
Trips outside Canada
No trips entered. Add each absence from Canada since the start of your evaluation window.
Days outside Canada that count
- Travelling abroad with a Canadian-citizen spouse or common-law partner.
- Employed full-time by a Canadian business or public service while assigned abroad. The Canadian business must be incorporated in Canada and actively operating.
- A child accompanying a Canadian-citizen parent abroad.
- Travelling abroad with a PR spouse who meets the residency obligation through one of the above categories.
Reference only. Status is not lost just because the obligation is missed — IRCC officers may issue a Section 44 report, which can be appealed on H&C grounds. See canada.ca PR card for current rules.
